NAS data recovery
Synology, QNAP and other network storage that won't boot, shows a crashed volume or has lost a drive.
Common NAS failures
- "Volume crashed" or "storage pool degraded" warnings
- One drive failed in a two-drive mirror, then the second started failing
- NAS won't boot after a firmware update or power cut
- Accidental reset, reinitialisation or deleted shared folders
- Ransomware-encrypted shares: tell us at consultation and we'll explain what is and isn't possible
We don't need the NAS box
For most failures we only need the drives. Remove them, label each with its bay number and send them together. If your NAS used encryption, send the box too and tell us at the consultation.
Don't let the NAS "repair" or reinitialise the volume, and don't put the disks into a new NAS. Both can overwrite the information needed to rebuild the volume.
| Initial consultation | Free | |
|---|---|---|
| 2TB NAS (1TB + 1TB), one drive to repair | £450 + VAT | |
| QNAP or Synology RAID 5 NAS | £650 + VAT |
Larger or multi-fault NAS systems are priced as RAID recoveries.

If a drive is clicking, buzzing or not spinning, switch it off now. Every extra power-on can scratch the platters.
