RAID data recovery
RAID 0, 5, 6 and 10 arrays from 2 to 10 drives, including failed rebuilds and servers that won't mount their volumes.
When RAID stops protecting you
RAID protects against one disk failing, not two, and not against a rebuild that goes wrong. Most of the arrays we see failed because a second drive dropped out during a rebuild, or a controller lost its configuration.
What we recover
- RAID 0 stripes where any single disk has failed
- RAID 5 and 6 arrays with more failed disks than the array can tolerate
- RAID 10 with both disks of a mirror pair failed
- Failed or interrupted rebuilds
- Lost or reset controller configuration
- Servers, workstations and disk shelves from Dell, HP, Lenovo and others
How we work on an array
We repair any physically failed members first, then create a full image of every disk. The array is rebuilt virtually from those images, so your original disks are never written to.
Don't force a degraded array back online, start a rebuild or swap disk order. Label each disk with its slot number, power the system down and call us.
| Initial consultation | Free | |
|---|---|---|
| RAID 0 | £650 + VAT | |
| RAID 5, 6 and 10 | £850–£1,500 + VAT | Depending on the number of drives to repair and rebuild |
Where individual disks need cleanroom work, donor parts are bought as for single drives. Larger arrays are quoted individually.
Common questions
Do I need to send every disk in the array?
Yes, please send all of them, including disks that seem healthy and any that were swapped out recently, labelled with their slot numbers.
A rebuild failed part-way. Is the data gone?
Usually not. Power the system down and don't restart the rebuild. We image every disk and reconstruct the array virtually, which lets us work around the interrupted rebuild.

If a drive is clicking, buzzing or not spinning, switch it off now. Every extra power-on can scratch the platters.
